POLES: 6 DIFFERENT THATCHING STYLES FOR AN ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY ROOF

Thatching Poles are used to support and hold together a thatched roof, usually consisting of dry vegetation such as straw, water reed, sedge, rushes or heather. R&B Timber Group has gathered online sources, to showcase and present different styles of thatching that can be placed over thatching poles.

Palm Thatch

Generally the cheaper option for thatching, these authentic palm leaves are obtained from sable palms can be used on any roof place or frame structure. This makes for a great outdoor thatched bar, creating a beach setting.

Elephant Grass

A simple and inexpensive approach to create an authentic palm thatch look. This style of thatching can be used on any roof place, as well as frame structures and umbrella frames. This thatching is not waterproof but rather purely used for shade cover.

Tahiti Thatch

This thatching is easy to work with, thick and durable. Made from palm leaves folded and sewn over a mesh strip to form a heavy-duty panel, it is sustainable in both wet and humid conditions.

Thatch Reed Panels

Attractive roof covering with no cleaning or maintenance required. This style of thatching has a number of uses such as creating an authentic thatch look, used in place of regular shingles, on umbrella frames, gazebos, bars and regular roofs.

Synthetic Thatch

Great for creating an island style look. Does not break down like natural thatching and lasts for many years, resisting colour fading, rotting, mildew, weather damage and even fire resistant.

Mexican Rain Cape

An inexpensive approach that creates an authentic palm thatch look. Can be used on any roof place, frame structures, and umbrella frames purely for shade cover. If you acquire more knowledge on this topic, please feel free to follow the link.
