In today's world, wood is one of the "greenest" building materials, but what are the negative effects of unsustainable forestry. Wood have several 'lifespans', as it ends its 'first life' as a wood product; it can then be recycled several times and in some case, even composted. Not only is wood a renewable resource, it stands the test of time and have a variety of applications. Where wood becomes unsustainable is when it is harvested through destructive logging practices that contribute to habitat destruction, water pollution, displacement of indigenous peoples, and violence against forest workers and wildlife.
